Anna Neil
Anna Neil is an Anishinaabe woman from the Bear Clan, originally from Cape Croker, Ontario, and now living on Treaty 1 Territory in Winnipeg.
Anna approaches her work as both a sacred obligation and an expression of love for future generations. Her work is not a career, it is a responsibility rooted in ancestral teachings.
Anna holds a Bachelor of Education and a Master of Arts in Indigenous Governance, where her research centered on land-based learning and the revitalization of traditional governance systems. She has worked in Indigenous education, culturally grounded program development, and community-led consultation focused on wellness, kinship, and sovereignty. She has also served as an instructor at the university level, supporting both Indigenous and non-Indigenous students in understanding relational accountability, resurgence, and Indigenous ways of knowing.
In addition to her formal roles, Anna is a scabe, a helper to Elders, supporting ceremony, teaching, and the everyday work of keeping Indigenous knowledge alive. Her practice is grounded in the teachings of the Medicine Wheel, the Seven Sacred Laws, and the inherent rights and responsibilities of Indigenous Peoples. She carries her roles as educator, advocate, and helper with humility, strength, and a fierce love for her people.
